| JBL MP412 Two-Way Speaker System |
The MPro MP412 from JBL Professional is a bundle of raw power, ultimate performance, and attractive looks. The MP412 is a popular choice among DJs for dance music, and finds extensive usage as a satellite speaker on top of MP418S or MP418SP. The multi-angular enclosure facilitates its use as a front-of-house speaker or a stage monitor. The 18-mm plywood enclosure is strengthened with a coat of DuraFlex, a poly-urea finish, which makes the speaker sturdy and resistant. The metallic grill with polygonal perforations adds charm to the device and protects the internal components from damage at the same time.To create stunning sound, the MP412 starts with reducing the effects of diffraction and distortion. This is achieved by using a single piece baffle with smooth and rounded faces, incorporating JBL's Laminar Flow Baffle™ design. The baffle is made of sheet molding compound, which is a durable, heat-resistant plastic capable of minimizing any sort of turbulence. An integral horn and ports further boosts the system performance. The large mouth of the horn and its unique design combines well with a precision-engineered crossover, resulting in better power response and perfect reproduction of sound at mid-range listening position. The intricate diaphragm design allows JBL to exploit high motor power and low moving mass of the compression driver for extending high frequencies even more. In fact, due to its ability to perform at high frequency levels and its integration with MP418S/ MP418SP for bass extension, this JBL speaker is the preferred choice for playback music and live performances. The compact, two-way speaker has a 12-inch woofer to handle low frequencies to the tune of 50 Hz and a three-inch edge-wound voice coil that faithfully creates sound waves. JBL's proprietary Symmetrical Field Geometry (SFG™) magnet structures minimizes harmonic distortion and gives maximum definition of bass and low midrange information for better power response. Talking about power, this sound freak is pumped up with 350 watts continuously, and can be raised to peak levels of 1,400 watts. After testing the power-handling capacity of the speakers for 100 hours, JBL has further reinforced the high frequency drivers with SonicGuard protection with the view that the show must go on.
