MRX Series
The war cry reaches a crescendo with DJs and musicians all over the world demanding a truly portable speaker system that fit into their well-heeled and mobile lifestyle. On the other side of the fence, meanwhile, JBL Professional is busy preparing a new recipe for speaker systems that are super light yet powerful. And in time, the two lines meet at the point called the MRX500 Series. MRX500 systems are the culmination of JBL’s ability to understand the pulse of a quickly evolving music industry and creating innovative applications that are backed by six decades of research and development in acoustic engineering. With the wave of a magic wand, JBL induces subtle design variations and precision engineering techniques into this popular variant. While keeping the promise of a lightweight, portable yet powerful and durable speaker system, JBL creates an out-of-the-box solution for numerous challenges faced by the music industry. The MRX500 Series has in its collection 400-watt, bass-reflex speakers of various configurations; a premium utility-cum- stage monitor speaker; a powerful subwoofer; and ambience-friendly mounting options. MRX500 is targeted at working DJs and musicians who are religiously carrying their musical accompaniments from place to place. For obvious reasons, the musicians want their speaker systems to be light in weight and light on their wallet; on top of that, they prefer the entire assortment to be setup with minimum fuss. Catering to these requirements, JBL uses Differential Drive transducers that are 30% lighter than other factory systems in its class. To protect the various components from the abrasive surroundings and rough road conditions, they are housed in a plywood vented enclosure that is coated with DuraFlex. The transducers are fortified with a 16-gauge steel grille lined on its inner side with an acoustically transparent screen. For tidy cable runs in the performing area and quick setup, NL4 connectors are provided on both sides of the speakers. MRX500 speakers are programmed to use a customized waveguide of constant beam width and power response for extensive coverage in the listening area without signal attenuation. In addition to that, speakers can be mounted with a gentle downward tilt of about 10o on a dual angle pole or tripod. This ensures that speakers face the audience instead of the back wall and the sound is fully absorbed rather than rebounded. The high frequency transducers with annular polymer diaphragm and neodymium compression driver are a perfect foil to the powerful woofers providing extra zing and power handling capability.
