Innovation is not new at JBL Pro. Over the last six decades, a slew of products from the designers of scientific audio management systems have revolutionized the way we listen to music. JBL followers take it for granted that the next best thing from the JBL stables will have no equals in the market. Without disappointing the audience, JBL delivers on its promise with the ultimate subwoofer in the MRX500 Series. MRX518S is the new name for portable subwoofer speaker systems. With an 18-inch frame, scientific design, and loads of power, this sub defies conventional wisdom that style and substance cannot coexist.
The subwoofer is lightweight, portable, predictable, and easy to setup. Using the right paraphernalia, one or two people can quickly pole-mount a satellite speaker on the sub and setup the entire MRX500 assembly in minutes. Quite a pleasant experience when you are your own sound man.
Equipped with a front-loaded 2044G low frequency driver, the sub is well-set to reproduce audio frequencies in the range of 40-200 Hz. And it does so with panache couched in a plywood vented enclosure that is coated with JBL’s elixir called DuraFlex. To reduce audio distortion, the sub has a spacious vent area. The woofer is fortified further with a 16-gauge steel grille lined on its inner side with a nonintrusive screen. MRX518S is conceived with the objective of extending low frequency output in keeping with the overall design advantages of the MRX Series.
The speaker system supports multiple cabling scheme standards for out-of-the-box configuration even for connecting with pole-mounted satellite speakers. Neutrik® NL4MP connectors are used to make input and loop-through connections thereby making it easy to reconfigure the sophisticated topology of the MRX network.
